Large portion of house building industry is dedicated to floor coverings. Different materials in variety of colors are used as flooring materials. They can improve general appearance of each room.

The most popular options are:

Hardwood floors are found more often in older, traditional homes. Oak is very common material of choice. The whole flooring is a composition of narrow strips connected together by tongue and groove joint and attached to sub floor base. Then after multiple sanding the wood is protected by sealer and lacquer or polyurethane finish. It provides kind of unique look emphasizing beauty of natural wood.

Old and damaged hardwood floor can be repaired and refinished to original appearance.

Tiles/natural stone flooring is more common in areas where durability, low maintenance and moisture resistance are more important. However well design tile floor with interesting pattern and symmetry can be excellent decorative motive. Floors of kitchens, bathrooms, entry hallways are often covered with tiles giving long lasting and well appearing floor protection.

Laminated floor boards are man made materials used as substitute for original hardwood floors. Installation is about assembly of individual panels which interlock

 with each other. Does not require sanding and finishing. Laminates are considered as low maintenance materials, but repairing or replacing damaged piece might be a challenge.

Carpet is a popular option in many homes. It is usually installed in bedrooms and family rooms. Commercial version of carpets may be glued directly over sub flooring. Residential application includes ½” or ¾” underlayment padding for softer feeling.
