Kitchen:
Kitchen Layout

Main function of kitchen is cooking. Location of plumbing fixtures and appliances are very important. Three key components: stove, refrigerator and sink should be installed in close proximity. Food preparation requires constant foot traffic, back and forth between those items.

Kitchen cabinets should provide enough storage space, but at the same time try to avoid the whole kitchen to look overcrowded. Very often the space is limited and we have to compromise. In this case we need to decide what is more important for us. For example: is it worth to sacrifice one wall or base cabinet for a vine rack, do we need more drawer cabinets instead of single shelve base, do we have enough space for oversize stove, additional freezer, perhaps center island or breakfast nook?

Keep in mind that changing location of plumbing fixtures and appliances will increase cost of remodeling simply because additional plumbing and electrical work required.
