Every house, often called a home is e complex structure build from thousand of individual elements made out of different materials. Just think about it. Typical frame house is set on reinforced concrete in form of foundation which support truck load of lumber cut and connected together to form floors, walls with windows and doors, ceilings and roof. There is also a network of plumbing pipes, miles of electrical wiring, air conditioner ducts, plumbing fixtures and so forth. On the exterior the whole house is covered with stucco or siding, roof is protected by appropriate roofing materials and interior walls are finished with drywall or plaster. Then we have build in cabinetry, appliances, floor and wall coverings, gallons of paint etc. The list goes on and on. No wonder that at some point something goes wrong and we need to do some repairs or replacements. Many of them should be performed by skilled professional, but some are definitely suitable for “DO IT YOURSELF” projects. Periodical inspections and maintenance can help avoid future problems.
